Individual Therapy

People seek psychotherapy for different reasons. Some people receive therapy to process their feelings and stay centered so they can continue to be their best self. Others have more severe issues they need to be addreseed. Therapy is an opportunity, and an investment, just for you.

In my sessions you’re invited to express your feelings and thoughts freely. Your feelings and experiences are a consequence of what’s going on internally. With curiosity and openness I will listen to you, without judgment, and collaborate with you to understand your experiences even more. I will ask you questions, offer clinical insights, and use tailored clinical approach to help meet your needs and goals. The strong therapeutic relationship you will build with me will become the foundation for change.

Some of the issues I often work with include: Relationship Issues, Emotion Regulation, Effective Communication, Coping with Depressed Mood and/or Anxiety, Eating Disorders / Binge Eating / Body Image Issues, Difficult Family Dynamics, Family Conflict, Trauma and PTSD, and Chronic Pain. I also have expertise working with Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoA) and Adult Children (AC). As an Asian immigrant I have good understanding of the mental health issues in Asian cultures. Non-Asian clients seek out my services for my clinical insight and years of experiences working with a variety of people.

In sessions I use Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My approaches are Person-Centered and Emotion Focused. I pay attention to your past, present, and how you see yourself in the future. I also pay close attention to the family dynamics you have experienced, impact that your culture brings to you, as well as the larger systemic issues that may have impacted your experiences.

We will start with an intake, an assessment of your needs and goals, and build a plan together. Weekly sessions are strongly recommended because it will allow us to build a strong therapeutic relationship quickly and have more focused sessions.
